lincoln

On Thursday the 8th graders went to Lincoln Nebraska. We seen a lot of cool things but my favorite was the Sheldon art gallery. We saw a lot of different types and styles of art. Also from many different era’s too. My favorite piece was the glass sculpture in the front lobby.

Memoir

On a cold and rainy Saturday 8 years ago, when my dad and grandpa were going to a gun show in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and after much asking they finally said that I could come with them, but I couldn’t touch anything.

As we were getting ready to leave my dad said, “maybe bring 10 bucks just in case you see something you might like to buy. So I went back into our house and got it out of my tractor bank. When we were leaving town we swing by and pick grandpa. “Hey, Deven”, he said as he got in. “Ready for the show, I heard it was going to have some nice guns.” I said, “Yes” as we were pulling out of the driveway.

On the way there I asked, ”Where are we going?” and they replied “Sioux Falls, South Dakota.” The second best gun show there is on earth. “Denver is the best and maybe the Tulsa show but we’ll have to you to take you to those when you’re a little bit older.” I said “ok ” and we went down the road and seen a lot of deer and turkey in cornfields and trying to cross the road.

As we pulled into the parking stall we got out and paid for admission and went on in. As we got in I seen the most guns and people I have ever seen in my whole life. We looked around and seen what we might come around and buy later. When we were finishing up I reached in my pocket to get the 10 bucks I brought, to buy a Winchester pocketknife. What I pulled out was nothing. I was horrified! I was looking everywhere for that thing. I retraced my steps, and went everywhere I could remember. When I went to tell my dad what happened I suddenly felt happy because I just remembered that I asked my dad to hold it for me so I wouldn’t lose it.

As we left I was happy that I got to go with them today because I learned some thing. Always remember where you put things. And it also taught me that I need to be more responsible.
